Has your boiler been acting strange lately? Then maybe it’s time for a new boiler installation. Click here to discover 5 signs you need a new boiler.
A boiler breakdown can be a frustrating and difficult affair to deal with.
Some of the worst case scenarios involve people’s boilers breaking down on the coldest day of the year. Boilers aren’t easy to fix and can even be hard to locate, making it difficult to gauge their boiler’s performance.
However, regular inspection of your boiler is essential to keep it working smoothly and efficiently. If you aren’t an expert on boilers and can’t spot common problems, then it’s important for you to know the signs that your boiler might be in trouble.
The good news — skilled experts can help you repair or perform new boiler installation in no time at all, as long as you know when to call them.
We’ve done the boiler research for you and have found five signs it’s time for a new boiler or to put it differently, five signs a central heating boiler needs replacing.
1. A New Boiler Installation Is Necessary If Your Energy Bill Spikes
Heating your home can be an expensive venture, especially during the winter.
If you receive an energy bill that has suddenly skyrocketed to high and expensive heights, then it’s time to consider the inefficient levels your boiler might be performing at.
Carefully monitoring your electric and gas usage on your monthly bills can save you from spending hundreds on inefficient heating that could be fixed with a boiler repair.
Saving yourself money and your boiler from breaking down will leave you warm and under budget all winter long.
2. Warning Signs Your Boiler Needs Replacing – Banging Noises
If you hear popping noises or banging coming from your boiler, you might have an issue.
When boilers have debris, limescale on the inside of the unit, or corrosion, these noises start to occur. The buildup will force your boiler to create hot spots which eliminate even heating.
To avoid a total new boiler installation, hire a certified central heating engineer to come monitor your boiler, especially if you have a low-water wall-mounted boiler that is over ten years old.
3. It’s Old, And Time For New Boiler Installation
If your boiler is more than a decade old, it’s time to consider new boiler installation.
After ten years, a boiler no longer functions like it did when it was in its prime. After years of use a boiler might start to have small problems, that will eventually lead to bigger and more expensive issues with time.
If your boiler is over ten years old (the average life expectancy of a traditional gas boiler is between 10 and 15 years), look into newer boiler options to replace it.
4. Water Leaks
If puddles of water are showing up in unwanted places around your boiler or in your basement, it’s possible your boiler is starting to disassemble. Not only will you be wasting water if the leaks aren’t fixed, it will create inefficient heating.
Avoid a high water and gas bill by fixing water leaks immediately or by having new boiler installation.
5. Gas Smell
If there are odours of gas or oil emitting from your boiler, call the pros immediately.
Gas released into your home is bad for your health and may be a sign of a gas leak that could create a plethora of major issues in your home.
